8/16/12: All Shook Up at the North Shore Music Theatre

Last night we were able to attend All Shook Up at the North Shore Music Theatre.  What a fun show that makes you want to get up and dance.  The Elvis music was wonderful and I am still singing the songs today.  Plus I have an extra surprise, they announced the lineup for next year, read on to see what is coming up. 

 Greeting us outside were some cool classic cars to put you in the mood for a show set in the 50's. 

I really liked this car.

I said it before and I will say it again, the North Shore Music Theatre is a beautiful venue.  I love the outdoor seating you can see here and the two restaurants they have.  It is a casual environment and I love that.  Plus the action is all around you as it is a Theatre in the round.

 I wasn't allowed to take photos but here are some press courtesy photos taken by Paul Lyden.  Here are the two main characters - Dara Hartman (Natalie disguised as 'Ed') and Ryan Overberg (Chad).  They really did an outstanding job in the show.  Chad is the rebel that comes to town to "shake things up" along with shaking up some pelvises.  Natalie is the grease monkey girl who wants to be with him, but of course he falls for someone else. 

Here you can see the majority of the cast.  Everyone in the cast did an amazing job with all the singing and dancing.  I felt like I wanted to take a breath for them.  The whole show was so high energy and I can imagine how hard it was to keep up that excitement.

 Joyce DeWitt from Three's Company was the Mayor and had to act like the bad guy with all these beepoppers in town necking in public.  I loved watching Three's Company when I was a kid so this was a thrill for me to see her.  Plus when I went in to the lobby at intermission I saw Nancy Kerrigan!  That was cool too.

 My son really liked the Motorcycle.  The North Shore Theatre does a great job with props.  My kids seem to really get in to the shows there and I really believe it is because the action is all around you.  They see actors coming up the aisles and love seeing everything up so close.

Miss DeWitt has starred in numerous theatrical productions including most recently Love Letter's with Tab Hunter, It'sConnecticut by "The Simpson's" writer Mike Reiss, Miss Abigail's Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage!, A Scattered, Smothered and Covered Christmas Musical the Canadian premieres of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize winning playDinner With Friends and Alfred Uhry's Tony Award-winning play The Last Night of Ballyhoo. 

 I really enjoyed singing that was done by Jannie Jones (Sylvia).  What a powerful voice.

 Jail House Rock is how the show opens.  Honestly my toes were tapping the whole show.

So don't let anyone step on your Blue Suede Shoes and get over to buy ticket to this show.  You will love it!
