5/15/14: LEGOLAND Discovery Center Sneak Peek and Win 4 Tickets

CONTEST CLOSED:  CONGRATULATIONS COLLEEN S. FOR WINNING!
Today we were extremely lucky to get a media preview of the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston at Assembly Square, Somerville.  They open on May 23rd so we were beyond excited to get a sneak peek.  Read on and I am giving you a chance to win 4 tickets to go!!!  We were greeted by their huge LEGO giraffe Tessie when we arrived.
The kids could not wait to go.  We went to LEGOLAND in California last year and when the kids found out that a LEGOLAND Discovery Center was coming to Boston they could not wait to go.
You must book your tickets online in advance.  You will select a half hour window for your tickets.  This is your only way to guarantee admission.  They are already sold out for the Friday-Sunday of their opening weekend.  When you arrive there are some cool wall creation areas with LEGOs for kids to play with.
The kids couldn't wait to go in and were excited when they said they were ready for us.
You first go up an elevator and you are at the LEGO Factory Tour.
Here kids get to interact with LEGO people.  You are broken up in to 4 colors - Blue, Green, Red and Yellow.  Pick any color as it is all in one small room so if your kids want to pick two different colors that is ok.
Here the kids are building their own Minifigures.  Channel 4 was there and took some video of the kids while they were creating.
At the end of this 10 minute or so presentation kids will be given a Factory LEGOLAND Discovery Center LEGO.  They didn't have them yet so we didn't get ours.
Here is some video:
The kids were psyched to meet Master Builder Ian Coffey!  He was there in his workshop creating.  They got to ask him questions about his creations.  He told us one of the hardest things he made was a rose.
Here he is creating.
Our favorite part was Miniland.  It was absolutely amazing!  Here you can see the Zakim Bridge behind them and the TD Garden.
Pictures don't do it justice but it is absolutely amazing!  So much of Boston is built.
Check it out, Evan is even a celebrity.  They put these two pictures of him on CBS News tonight.
He is going to be so thrilled in the morning to know he was on TV.
So cool!
I like this close up look.
Fenway Park!  Plus it is interactive.  You can play with it like a pinball machine and hit the ball.
Evan posing for me.
I love that it continually goes from day to night time.
I loved all the little touches and interactive pieces.  Make sure to look everywhere.  Evan noticed a button and pressed it and it was Cheers down below and the button lit it up and played the Cheers theme song.
Here are some more pictures of Miniland:

Here is some video of Miniland:
Then we walked in to the main Discovery area where there is so much to do.
Here is Evan building some race cars.
Racing them:
Lauren enjoyed the LEGO Friends area.
Here she is inside making some food.
Then she did Karaoke.  They have a little TV that you can pick a song from.
This awesome play area was great fun for the kids.
The kids could really spend an hour in here.  They loved it!
Plus there are two rides.  We went on Kingdom Quest which allows you to shoot at villains as you play through the game.  The kids loved it.
Plus you compete so you all get scored.
Here is another ride called Merlin's Apprentice Ride.  You pedal to go up in the air.  Lauren and I had fun on it.
There are lots of play areas with LEGOs.  You can build and then have them shake on a shaker table which was cool.
There is also a movie theatre with a LEGO movie that runs every half hour continuously.  It is a 4D movie meaning there are 3D glasses plus other interactive effects.  The movie runs 14 minutes long.
Here are their facilities for parties.
Here is the inside of one of the rooms.  They have two rooms.
Here is the Master Builder Academy.
There is also a Duplo Farm area for little kids.
Here is one of the views outside one of the rides.
Here is their food area.  For $15 you can get a kids meal deal which includes a LEGO lunch box, chips, juice box and kids sandwich.
Here is some video inside.
There is a really cool LEGO Store on the way out.
I highly suggest checking them out when they open!
