8/13/15: Fort Hunter Mansion Tour

Another attraction we visited while we were in Harrisburg, PA was Fort Hunter Mansion and Park.  We experienced a guided tour of Fort Hunter Mansion.  This is another great location to visit to take a tour of the mansion, walk around and have a picnic lunch.
This beautiful Mansion is on the Susquehanna River and offers beautiful views along with picnic areas.

We learned how the upper class lived in Harrisburg PA back in 1725.  As can be seen here there is a picture on the wall of a little boy, though he is dressed as a little girl.  We learned from our guide that children would wear a skirt until they were potty trained.
This room was an area that kids would not be allowed in and could only enter on special occasions.
Here are some original paintings in the hallway.
This site includes 10 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remnants of the old Pennsylvania Canal Trail.
Here are some samples of clothing on the second floor.
Here are some of the bedrooms.

Here you can see a small bassinet for a baby.
This is a lovely handmade dollhouse.
Here you can see some beautiful views outside the Mansion.
Their kitchen area.
Another view of the outside.
We saw a beautiful butterfly in the back garden area of the Mansion.
I suggest visiting.  The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Disclosure:  We were provided with admission to the tour at Fort Hunter Mansion.  No other compensation was received and all opinions as always are my own.
