LaserCraze Becomes Xtreme Craze in Woburn

Recently I got to experience some serious fun at XtremeCraze in Woburn, MA. You may know them as LaserCraze but after a major renovation they will now be known as XtremeCraze!
I got to experience their new laser tag game with a group of bloggers and we had a blast! This game is great for kids 7 and up for a family night out, or with a corporate group! It would also be a super fun Girls Night Out and Dad would love it for Father's Day! Learn more here about planning special events.

The laser tag arena is awesome with two levels of play area. The arena is 22,000 square feet of play!
If you have never played, don't worry it is easy to learn. You start by entering through these doors in to the briefing room where they show you a short video going over the game play and the rules of the game. You will also be broken up in to a Red and Blue team.
Once you are briefed you go in to suit up. Go to your number vest and put it on and now you are ready to play!
The new upgraded LASERTRON arena and gaming system offers the world's best indoor laser tag experience. One upgrade allows you to hold down the trigger for three seconds and a display pops up with different modes you can enter in to. I personally like the rapid fire play especially when at the other teams base to score the most points. Here you can read about all the C.H.I.P.S (Competitive Human Interactive Player Software) Power-Ups Modes.
There is also spy mode or freeze-ray action. When you have been targeted too many times though you may need to head back to one of two rechargers to continue play.
Don't worry though you will be back up and running quickly. You play 4 five minute rounds and after each of the rounds you return to the recharger to see your scores from the previous round.
So cool inside the arena!
Here is some video in the game.
We had such a great time playing! But there is so much more in the complex.
There is also the Adrenaline Zone for some bouncing fun. When we visited four years ago this was a big hit with the kids! These have been upgraded since that visit too.
Here you can see some of the inflatables.
Plus there is an arcade with lots of fun games.
Trade in your tickets for great prizes.
They also have a Craze Café. The owner Greg Hughes explained to us that they have a limited menu to make sure they provide the best product they can.
They focus on pizza and we got to sample it and it was really good.
Hughes Entertainment also has a location in Westborough at 166 Milk Street which also has an escape room.
What a ton of fun for the whole family!
Best of all the kids are tired when they are done!

Disclosure:  I was given lunch and laser tag in addition to passes for my family to play Laser Tag.  No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

Win 2 Tickets to Dirty Dancing On Stage at the Schubert Theatre

CONTEST CLOSED: CONGRATULATIONS KAREN S FOR WINNING!
Growing up I loved the movie Dirty Dancing. Now I am so excited that it will be live at the Schubert Theatre from June 13th -17th! I am even giving you a chance to win 2 tickets to the show on June 13th!
More about the show:
Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage will officially open a new production and North American tour at the Harris Center in Folsom, CA, October 5 - 7. After three successful years on tour boasting numerous sold out engagements, this new adaptation of the worldwide smash-hit film, currently celebrating its 30th Anniversary, will continue to dazzle in more than 50 markets in North America, including Boston, at the Boch Center Shubert Theatre from June 13 – 17, 2018. Directed by Sarna Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George – Broadway; War Horse – North American tour). Leading a company of 24 are Aaron Patrick Craven as Johnny Castle and Kaleigh Courts as Francis “Baby” Houseman.
They are joined by Anaïs Blake as Penny Johnson, Erica Lee Cianciulli as Marjorie Houseman, Nickolaus Colõn as Billy Kostecki/Singer, Ryan Cupello as Robbie Gould, Buddy Daniels Friedman as Mr. Schumacher, Rick Grossman as Max Kellerman, Demitra Pace as Lisa Houseman, Owen Russell as Neil Kellerman, Christopher Robert Smith as Dr. Jake Houseman and Ramond Thomas as Tito Suarez. The ensemble is comprised of Alex Caldwell, Ayla Ciccone-Burton, Amanda Clement, J’royce Jata, Hunter Mikles, Honza Pelichovksy, Erica Philpot, Joshua Clifton Powell, Hannah Straney, Jay Stuart, Kelsey Walsh and Aidan Ziegler-Hansen. Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage features an eight piece band that performs the timeless hits on stage, led by Conductor Alan J. Plado (Keyboard) and Associate Conductor Jonathan Marro (Keyboard).
The production’s book is written by Eleanor Bergstein, author of the original script of the film, and the North American tour is choreographed by Michele Lynch based on the original choreography by Kate Champion. The creative team also includes Mikiko Suzuki (Scenic Design), Ken Billington (Lighting Design), Jennifer Irwin (Costume Design), Leon Rothenberg (Sound Design), Bernie Ardia (Hair Design), Conrad Helfrich (Music Supervisor and Orchestrations) and Alan J. Plado (Music Director). Stewart/Whitley is the casting director for this tour. “As I learned how many people watched the movie over and over and over,” said Eleanor Bergstein, screenwriter of the film Dirty Dancing and book writer for the production, “I began to think that what they really wanted was to share more physically in the event, to step through the screen and be there while the story was happening. And if that was true, then its natural form was theatre – live audiences watching live bodies dancing and singing here and now in the present – on the log, on the bridge, on the dance floor and in the staff quarters at Kellerman’s. Writing it for the stage, I was also able to add more scenes with Baby and Johnny, more about the family, more about the period in which it was set, more songs I couldn’t afford last time, and, best of all – more dancing.
They have added 20 new original scenes and 36 numbers of live music played by an eight piece band onstage, which invite the audience to come into Kellerman’s and experience the story in a whole new way as a live event as it happens.” “Dirty Dancing is one of our most beloved and timeless properties,” said Lionsgate Television Group’s President Sandra Stern. “Its magic has enchanted audiences on film, television, DVD and digital platforms alike, and it remains a perennial best-seller in our film and television library. We’re delighted to participate in the latest stage incarnation that will introduce Dirty Dancing to a whole new generation of fans, and we expect the stage play to prove yet again that nobody puts Baby in a corner.” North American tour booking arrangements are provided by The Road Company. Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage is an unprecedented live experience, exploding with heart-pounding music, passionate romance and sensational dancing. Seen by millions across the globe, this timeless love story features the hit songs “Hungry Eyes,” “Hey Baby,” “Do You Love Me?” and the heart-stopping “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.”
It’s the summer of 1963, and 17-year-old Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman is on vacation in New York’s Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents. Mesmerized by the racy dance moves and pounding rhythms she discovers in the resort’s staff quarters, Baby can’t wait to be part of the scene, especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle, the resort’s sexy dance instructor. Passions ignite and Baby’s life changes forever when she is thrown in to the deep end as Johnny’s leading lady, both on-stage and off. Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage was first performed at the Theatre Royal in Sydney, Australia in November 2004 before embarking upon a hugely successful tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Tickets are available at the Boch Center Box Office, bochcenter.org, or by calling (866) 348-9738.

The Sound of Music at the Boch Center Wang Theatre

We were extremely lucky to be able to go to The Sound of Music at the Boch Center Wang Theatre on opening night.  One word for it "Wow!"  Both my husband and I thought it was amazing!  It is here for a limited two week engagement May 1st - 13th so get your tickets now.
My husband has always loved The Sound of Music so when I heard it was coming to Boston I knew he would want to go.  First off Maria who was played by Jill-Christine Wiley.  She did an amazing job with the part.  She was so believable and had a wonderful singing voice.  I was very impressed by her interactions with the children.

Next up Mike McLean as Captain Georg Von Trapp.  At first I thought he was good but nothing stood out for me until he sang Edelweiss and then I saw his strength.  He was wonderful!

Lauren Kidwell was another standout to me as The Mother Abbess.  Her voice was unbelievable.  So powerful and beautiful.
The Von Trapp children were so awesome.  Each acted their part so well.  I especially love when they sing Goodnight Farewell.
The backdrops were also amazing.  I loved the church scene during the wedding.  The depth shown in the scenes was gorgeous.
This is definitely a show not to be missed!
Tickets are available at the Boch Center Box Office, Bochcenter.org, by calling (800) 982-ARTS (2787), and via Ticketmaster. Groups of 10 or more may reserve tickets now by contacting Boch Center Group Sales at (617) 532-1116 orgroups@bochcenter.org.
