11/21/13: A Christmas Story, The Musical at Boston's Citi Wang Theatre

Last night we were extremely lucky to go to opening night of A Christmas Story, The Musical at Boston's Citi Wang Theatre.  The whole family absolutely loved it!  In the Theatre at the top of the stairs there was even "A Major Award". We had to take a picture with it.
If you are sitting in Orchestra seats this little setup is right as you enter to where the seats are.  How cute do the kids look as Ralphie and Randy.  Who doesn't have that wonderful family member that gets them such funny holiday gifts like the bunny suit.  Plus Randy is so adorable when he can't put his arms down.  I remember being bundled up so much to go out in the snow you could barely move.
The show is here until December 8th.  Click the link below to save 15% per ticket and buy tickets now using the code LEGLAMP Buy Tickets Here
I highly suggest going to see it!
I was wondering how they were going to make such a beloved movie in to a musical but it did not disappoint.  It was fantastic.  All the fun moments from the movie are there and so entertaining as you are seeing it live.  There are so many awesome lines in the show that you end up quoting "You'll shoot your eye out".
Love the bunny suit.  Jake Lucas was so wonderful as Ralphie.  He had an awesome voice and is so talented.
One of my favorite parts is when the Old Man received a major award!  The lamp is priceless.
John Bolton played the part of the Dad and he was fantastic.
It was one of my favorite dance numbers when they were dancing with the leg lamps.  Even the kids were.  They did a kick line with them which was hilarious.
Dan Lauria is in the show narrating.  You probably remember him as the Dad on The Wonder Years.  He is a wonderful actor.
There were so many wonderful scenes with the Mom who was played by Erin Dilly.  She was a wonderful singer and it was hysterical watching the scene where she has Randy eat like a piggy.
Of course there was the famous scene with Santa where Ralphie gets confused by Santa recommending a Football and has to climb back up the slide to say what he really wants and then gets the standard response of "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" kid.

Santa and his elves.
There was a wonderful Tap number that I didn't expect with Ralphie's teacher and several of the children in the show.
This little boy Luke Spring had a little solo part and was amazing!  Being a Tap Dancer myself I really enjoyed it.  Even my husband said it was one of his favorite parts.
All the children did a wonderful job in the show.  I was very impressed by their acting and dancing ability.
Love the tongue stuck to the pole on a triple dog dare ya.
Even the dogs were awesome in the show as they ran after the Old Man and got the turkey.  Here are Pete and Lily as the Bumpus Hounds.
 More about the show:
Celebrate the holidays with this cherished story that will entertain the whole family with this heart-warming classic tale! The story from a cherished movie classic that has enchanted millions is now a musical spectacular. The story takes place in 1940’s Indiana, where a bespectacled boy named Ralphie has a big imagination and one wish for Christmas—a Red Ryder BB Gun. A kooky leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a cranky department store Santa, and a tripledog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the obstacles that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas dream. Co-produced by the film’s original Ralphie, Peter Billingsley, A Christmas Story, The Musical is musical comedy entertainment that captures a simpler time in America with delicious wit and a heart of gold.
