12/22/14: Maya Group Cool Holiday Toys

Next up in my Holiday Gift Guide is great gifts for boys and girls from the Maya Group.  We have reviewed their toys in the past and have always enjoyed them.  Orbeez are a personal favorite of mine and the kids.  First off is the Xploderz Mayhem.

Xploderz Mayhem is part of the Xploderz FireStorm Series and can fire 120 rounds of ammo in 60 seconds!  Despite the fact that it is cold in New England we were able to find a way to play with it by using it out our backdoor to our deck.

  Xploderz use a similar H2 Grow technology that Orbeez do.  What I like about it is that it comes with created ammo.  The Xploderz ammo takes 4 hours to grow and when your son is looking on as you open this toy you don't want to have to tell him he has to wait 4 hours to use it.  Big props to the Maya Group for providing this ammo already ready to go.

 You hold back the handle and crank the crank for the shooting to begin.

 It was really easy to put together and even Lauren got in on the fun.

 It also comes with 2,000 rounds of ammo which will last quite a long time. With a velocity of 100 feet per second, it is 50 percent faster than any foam blaster.  You can reload ammo really quickly.

So much fun!

The secret behind the Ammo Technology is a polymer and water-based system that creates an ammo strong enough to fire huge distances and yet soft enough to disintegrate on impact. Since the Ammo is 99.9% water, it is completely safe. The Ammo consists of super absorbent polymers that can absorb more than 150 times their volume in water. The water is absorbed into the spaces between the molecules.

We did test this out as my son shot me with it and it did not hurt.

Next up is the Make Your Case set.  Lauren got right to work without even asking me for help.  The only thing I had to assist with was pushing down to get the mold to start.

This set allows you to create a case for either an Samsung Galaxy S3/S4, iPod touch, iPhone 4 or iPhone 5.  It has silicone to make two molds.  Here is Lauren working on the mold.  After you push this through it takes 2 hours to set.  Then you can decorate your case however you want.  It comes with design paper, gem stickers, letters, and even 4 additional pre-made cases.  It lets kids show off their personal style.

Here you can see the iPhone 5 case molded.  Now we wait two hours for it to complete.

Here it is as packaged.  So far I think it is pretty easy to use and fun for kids.  It retails for $24.99.

Here are two other refill sets.  We received the Decor Tape and Spin Art.  This allows kids to make even more creations.  They make it easy to switch out designs also as you can just switch out the paper you have decorated.  Each of these sets come with 4 cases to decorate.

Last but not least is the Orbeez Body Spa.  Not only is this an inflatable comfortable chair but it also vibrates and comes with 6000 Orbeez.  

It does require a pump which is not included to inflate it so make sure you have one available.

12/21/14: Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy Fun

I love Disney and anytime I can experience a little Disney magic close to home it is a good day.  We were lucky enough to go to Disney On Ice Worlds of Fantasy at the Agganis Arena in Boston.  We also got to meet some special guests before the show!

Worlds of Fantasy is playing from December 19th - 29th so you still have time to see it.

I love this show.  It has a lot of great characters including Cars, The Little Mermaid, Tinker Bell, and Toy Story.  Plus of course Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald are in it.

The show starts with car problems.

Luckily the friendly Mater is ready to help.

My favorite part of the show is the Cars portion.  We love the movie Cars in our house and it is so much fun to see them on ice.

Next up was a dive into The Little Mermaid’s enchanting undersea kingdom.

 Ariel and all her friends perform some fancy moves on the ice.

Sebastian joins in the fun. 

 They did a wonderful job with this undersea fun.

 Absolutely beautiful.

Next we got to travel to the mystical world of Pixie Hollow with Tinker Bell and the Disney Fairies as they reveal the magic that lies within! 

 Tinker Bell did some awesome tricks on skates too and even spread some pixie dust.

 It was fun being transported to Pixie Hollow.

 Vidia made an appearance.

 What a lovely part to the show.

Tinker Bell even flew.

Last but not least in the show was Toy Story! The toys are back in town at Sunnyside Daycare!  Andy has all of his toys together.

 The gang is back together and skating all around.

 We really like Lotso.

Slinky is really cool too. 

 This was also another favorite part to the show.

What a fun show.  

The whole family will love to see all of their favorite Disney characters on ice.

12/18/14: Fun Toys from Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon has some awesome holiday gifts with your favorite Nickelodeon characters.  We received three sets and they are next up in my holiday gift guide.  First up is the Krusty Krab Attack by Mega Bloks SpongeBob SquarePants.  We love SpongeBob, in fact my husband was watching SpongeBob before we even had kids.  

The Evil Plankton is at it again and trying to steal the Krabby Patty recipe yet again in the Krusty Krab Attack by Mega Bloks SpongeBob SquarePants.  Kids get to build the Krusty Krab.  Here is Evan with all 407 pieces.

 

He had no problem following the directions to build.

I love that it is interactive.  Once you build it there are manual patty launchers and robot minions.

Kids can build an adventure in Bikini Bottom with all of their favorites including Mr. Krabs, Squidward, Plankton and of course SpongeBob.

The kids loved building it and playing with it afterwards.

We also received some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys including the Lego Turtle Sub which includes 4 minifigures with weapons and accessories: Donatello Leonardo, 2 Kraang, plus a Leatherhead figure.  The Turtle Sub features a detachable top shell, opening cockpit, control panels, shooter, flapping fins, periscope, weapons, armory storage, exercise bike and an opening hatch to remove the mini sub.  Mini Kraang sub features a flick missile shooter, computer dashboard, power cell and translucent elements Weapons include 2 swords, 2 harpoons and a staff.  It retails for $59.99.

Last but not least is the Carrera Go Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles X-Loop Race Set.  This set has scale 1:43 racers, a track, 2 speed controller, lap counter, and lots of fun!  My son loves racing so this is so much fun for him.
