12/18/14: Irving Berlin's White Christmas The Musical Holiday Fun

Watching a great holiday show is such a wonderful way to get in to a festive mood for the holiday season.  Last night we were lucky enough to go to Irving Berlins White Christmas The Musical at the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre and is there until December 28th!  Not only did we see the show but we also got to attend a Red Carpet Opening Night star studded arrival of the cast!
The kids were so excited to see the beautiful car pull up with the cast.  What a gorgeous car they arrived in.
The cast was all smiles as they arrived.
The kids were so excited talking to the cast.  They were so personable and asking the kids if they tap danced as there would be a lot of dancing in the show.  Of course Lauren taps and is on a competition tap dance team so she spoke right up.
Plus they signed their books.  Here is Jeremy Benton who is "Phil Davis" and Kaitlyn Davidson who plays "Judy Haynes.”
Here is James Clow who plays "Bob Wallace," and Trista Moldovan who plays "Betty Haynes".
Evan was chatting it up too.
I love their costumes.
Here is a little clip where you can see the kids on NECN.

If that was not enough excitement then of course we had the show to go to.  I also have a discount code for you:

The show was really well done.  The singing and dancing were amazing.  We especially liked the tap dancing.  There were some full numbers that had tap dancing in them.  Everyone had a beautiful voice and could dance which is a difficult combination.

Another highlight was the train scene.  I love the Snow song.  I want to wash my hair in snow!

I have to admit during the whole show I was comparing to the movie.  I think they did an excellent job keeping the spirit of the film but also adding some aspects.  There were some funny moments that were unexpected also which my son is still talking about.  In the movie General Waverly's granddaughter is played by an older girl than is in the musical.  In the Musical it was a younger girl and she had a much bigger part.  She had her own song and dance number that was wonderful.

If you don't recognize him, John Schuck who played "General Waverly” has been in many TV shows and movies.  Most notable is The Munsters.  He did a great job in his role as the General.  The highlight for our family was the ending when they sang White Christmas.  I have to be honest I wished this section of the show went on longer.  The backdrop was wonderful and it snowed in the theatre!

The whole show was fantastic and a wonderful show for the whole family.  I highly recommend going!  My kids loved it and so did I!
