7/15/12: Roger Williams Zoo Fun and the New Hasbro's Our Big Backyard

We love going to the Roger Williams Zoo in Providence, RI.  We have gone many times in the past, but this time there was a new play area "Hasbro's Our Big Backyard", but I will get to that later.  Also in August the Zoo has brand new Family Nights! Every Saturday in August, the Zoo will be open until 8 pm – regular Zoo admission applies!  First off we had to see our favorite animals.  You can see two Moon Bears behind Evan and Lauren here.
 We love Zebras.
This Harbor Seal was really cool.  He kept swimming right up to the kids.  The kids had fun watching him swim around.
But this guy is their favorite!  The Crane who literally turns his neck and his head upside down.  The kids have such a great time playing with him.
They talk about the "funny bird" all year and can't wait to go see him again.
The Crane liked playing with their toys by tapping on the glass.
 Turning his head.
 He liked Lauren's Snow Leopard.
Here are the kids hanging out on an elephant.
And now a real elephant getting some food.  It is really cool that all the animals are so close to you.
The kids enjoyed the Giraffes.  One kept scratching his face and neck on the wall.
This giraffe was literally this close eating.
 So close to Lauren.
This is the Farmyard where you can see some Sheep, Chickens, Pigs and a Cow.
Another special event is that the bald eagle Spirit is having a Animal Birthday Party Club celebration on July 16.
This guy was super cute.  We spent a lot of time watching him eat his melon and run around.  He is a Shrew.
Getting cool with some running water.
This whole area is new.  It is Hasbro's Our Big Backyard and it just opened on June 4th.  It really is a beautiful are for kids to play in.
This is the newly built CVS All Kids Can Tree House which is a fully accessible tree house.  Another beautiful building with activities and a scavenger hunt for kids and adults to enjoy.  They also had some bugs butterflies in the walls as part of the scavenger hunt.
A pretty little arch way in the backyard area.
Some water play in the Drip Drop Water Garden.
A fish pond to go fishing in.
Inside the All Kids Can Tree House.  It is so pretty.
A Sticks and Stones Building Zone that Evan enjoyed in the backyard area.
The kids painting with water in the Creativity Corner.  They really enjoyed this new play area.  Go and check out the Roger Williams Zoo and see it for yourself.
Disclosure:  I received a family four pack of tickets to the Roger Williams Zoo in exchange for this review.  No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
