12/30/11: Museum of Science Fun - What Makes an Ocean Wave Wave?

The kids always have a great time at the Museum of Science.  I am fortunate enough to get free tickets to the exhibit hall, Planetarium Shows and Omni Shows from my company who is a corporate sponsor of the Museum.  Today was especially busy at the Museum with school vacation week but we still had a great time and took in an Omni show called Ring of Fire which was really cool.  Evan loves Dinosaurs so he had to pose with one.  He especially likes his scarf.
Lauren controlling the Space Capsule.  Maybe taking after her Mom in interests.  See my earlier post to learn more.
Every time I see this I have to say "What makes an ocean wave wave?"  If you have lived around Boston as long as I have this will be a throw back to the old commercial for the Museum of Science.
I actually found that old commercial, here is the video:
There are always new exhibits every time we go.  Plus the kids love the kids play area.  Here is Lauren seeing what it is like to be a Bee.
Evan releasing his fishy in to the water.
Can't wait for our next visit.

12/27/11: The BlankZ Toy Your Kids Can Design

My kids had the pleasure of trying out the blankZ "White Hound" and "Bare Hare".  They are called blankZ, because you fill in the blankZ!  The kids had lots of fun coloring their creations, plus you can wash them and they can redesign them!
Here are our two in their packages.  You can see more options at their blankZ Website.
What a great toy with a $12.99 price tag.  Here is Lauren giving me her best Vana White showing me her blankZ.  I didn't have this in time for my Holiday Gift Guide, but Valentine's Day is right around the corner and this would be a cute little gift for any child.
As you can see it comes with the animal, 5 markers, and a little background.
Lauren loving how her creation is coming out.
 Lauren decorating the back.
 Evan creating.
Both kids finding their creative side.  I love how they combined colors to create other colors they didn't have.  For example they created brown.  So cute.  They really enjoyed creating on it.
 Both kids working hard.
Lauren with her creation.  She has asked me numerous times to wash it.  With the craziness of the holidays I haven't had time, but I will soon so she can create again.
Evan proudly displaying his creation.  He already has plans for the next time he colors it.
 Lauren's Bunny!
 Evan's doggy!
Here is a little promotional video if you would like to watch it.

12/26/11: Disney on Ice Treasure Trove - Fun for the Family

Today we were lucky enough to go to Disney on Ice Treasure Trove.  We go every year as part of my birthday celebration.  It has been a tradition since I was little.  Plus I love Mickey Mouse!  The show was wonderful as always and we got to have a special meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie.  Minnie liked my Minnie sweater.
Here are the kids all ready for the show.  As you can see they are excited in their Disney outfits.
You can still buy tickets here as the show is in town until December 29th.
The show includes Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lion King, Snow White, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, and all the Princesses at the end.  This was one of my favorite parts when the cards were skating around in the Alice in Wonderland part.
Here are the kids ready after intermission for the second half.
Here is Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.
At the end of the show with all the Princesses.
Here are some other cool pictures of the show.

Disclosure:  I was given 4 tickets and a special Meet and Greet after the show in exchange for this review.  No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

12/24-25/11: Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Festivities

We had another wonderful Christmas and Santa was extremely good to the kids.  Here they are with Santa Fred on Christmas Eve.  It was always my tradition growing up to open presents on Christmas Eve when Santa drops them off so we continue to do that now.  We do save some for the morning, but it is so fun to see the kids get excited as they see Santa go by the window.
Almost present time, just have to eat dinner and hang out a bit.
 Santa Fred is all ready!
Evan watching the window for Santa.
 Lauren watching.
He came!  Let the ripping of Christmas wrapping paper begin!
Lauren asked for everything Hello Kitty, and she got it!
And Evan wanted everything Angry Birds which he also got.
 Checking out all the gifts.
Fred was happy, Santa brought him a new bed.
So cute, Lauren wanted to give Evan a big hug to thank him for his gifts.  They both shopped for each other at the Holiday Fair at school and got each other great stuff.
When we woke in the morning it was snowing!  Very lightly but snow none the less.  Made for a little Christmas Magic.
Christmas morning, round 2 of presents!
 Legos!
And Lauren got an Ariel costume.
Ok, that tree is quite full of gifts!
Ready to go to Uncle Lou's on Christmas Day.
 The cousins.
What another great Christmas!  We are all truly blessed.
