10/4/14: Apple Picking Fall Fun at Tougas Farm

I love Fall!  The leaves are changing the weather is getting cooler, but best of all there is apple picking and Halloween!  We spent last Sunday apple picking at Tougas Farm in Northboro and had a great time as always.  

We always go with my good friend/neighbor growing up and her family.

First off, has anyone else noticed how busy apple picking is in New England?  I felt like everyone was there to apple pick.  The lines were enormous to get in to the orchard and then to get on the tractor ride, and then huge lines for cider donuts.

It was a beautiful day though at 85 degrees which is very strange for late September.  It almost felt wrong apple picking with shorts on.

The apples looked great and we got right to picking.  They had so many varieties and tons of apples on the trees.  Luckily they had a tented area where all the trees were and someone told you where each variety was and what areas were best to go.

Heading back on the tractor ride, though we easily could have walked as it was not so far.  But taking a tractor ride is more fun.

Then we headed to the Pumpkin Patch.

Evan was very excited to pick a pumpkin.  There was plenty to choose from.

This was my favorite, someone made a heart out of pumpkins.

What a great day!  Nothing is better than Fall in New England.

Plus great home made apple pies after.

9/23/12: Apple Picking at Parlee Farms

Today we went apple picking at Parlee Farms in Tyngsboro.  Usually I plan a huge outing with 20-30 friends but this year I kept it more low key and just went as a family.

 It was crazy busy there!  So busy that they closed the farm down to new people entering at 1:45.  They were only picking Cortlands, Honey Crisp and Golden Delicious.  That was fine with us as we use Cortlands for our pies and Evan loves Golden Delicious.

 I like going there as one bag gets entry for the family to the field.  Then there are animals to feed, a hay maze, tractor ride, and hayride.  Plus they have a farm store with yummy donuts and ice cream.

 We decided to compare this one to the size of Lauren's head as it was so big.

 YUM!  Nothing is better than a nice crisp apple just picked from the tree.

10/9/2011: Apple Picking at Parlee Farms

This year was warmer than other years, but we had a great time apple picking at Parlee Farms.  I always organize this day out and we always have a great time apple picking and this time was no exception.  We have been to Parlee twice for Blueberry picking and always had fun so I thought we would try apple picking there.  They did not disappoint, there were tons of apples, and pumpkins, a hay maze, tractors to ride, animals to see, ice cream, and cider donuts.  What more can you ask for?  Here are the kids on the tractor.

10/3/10: Apple Picking with the WPI Crew

Even though we didn't make it to WPI this year for homecoming and my 15 year reunion we did go apple picking with the WPI crew as we usually do. Here are previous trips. This year with 14 in tow we headed to Honey Pot Hill Farm. We took a hayride, saw some animals picked some apples, and ate cider donuts. What a great time and big apples!
