10/21/11: Halloween Family Night at the Billerica Library

We went to the Halloween Family Night at the Billerica Library again.  We always have a good time at this event.  It is usually the first time the kids wear their costumes.  Here are Jessie and Woody all ready to go outside the library.
Evan with one of his friends from class.
And another friend.
Evan loved playing the games and winning prizes.

9/24/11: Animals at the Library?

As I have posted before, we love our local library.  Not only can we get great books there, but we can also attend children's events and get passes to area museums.  Over the past weekend, there was a Barnyard Friends Petting Zoo at our town's library.  We are members of the Friends of the library so we were able to attend.  What a lot of fun with the kids.  It was just Evan and Lauren with a bunch of animals they could pick up, pet and brush.
 There were bunnies.
 Goats.
Chicks
  Lauren loved this bunny.
And this was adorable.  There is one bunny on top of another bunny, and the pig came over to lick them.  So cute.
Evan even got to help getting the Ducks back in their crate.
Thank you again Billerica Library for having a wonderful event for the kids.

6/24/11: Big Wheels at the Library and Cars 2!!!!

We had a busy day today.  It started out with this morning going to the Wilmington Library for the Big Wheels event.  This is a great event, but due to "Day Out With Thomas" falling on the same day as this each year, we could never attend.  This year Edaville cancelled this event so we could go.  You can see the difference from when we went in 2008 here.  While we were there we met up with a friend and then had a playdate and their house which was fun.  The kids painted bird houses and clip boards that became frames.  Very cool.  And being how anal I am about painting in the house, I kept close eye with paper towels in hand.
Evan posing for me.
And of course Lauren is always posing.
 Evan in a big Excavator.
The police cars were a big hit.
Lauren feeling like a big girl.
In the Fire Truck.  As you may remember Evan wants to be a Fire Fighter and had two birthday parties at the Fire Station, so this is always a hit for him.
As if that wasn't enought, we of course had to go to opening night for the much anticipated Cars 2!  We went to see it at the IMAX theatre in Jordan's Furniture.  It was really cool to feel the rumble in the seat, have the movie on a huge screen and be in 3D.  It sold out the 500 seat theatre.  I could have possibly been more excited than the kids to see it.
I don't want to give much away, but we did like the movie, Evan was giggling away during it too.  John liked the original more, I say they are very hard to compare as they were so different.  I did also enjoy the Toy Story short at the beginning, it was hysterical.
What a way to start off Summer vacation, despite the misty weather!

10/25-27/10: Halloween Fun

Well more Halloween activities. The kids colored these wonderful pictures for a competition at Market Basket. We will see if they win.
We went to a Halloween Magic show at the library. The kids liked it.

And here they are at another library doing a parade through the library. Daddy took Evan and Lauren because Mommy was at tap class. I think they all had a lot of fun. They had storytime and music and puppets. Here we were last year.
And here is Lauren and the crew at Neicy's Halloween Party today. It is so funny seeing Lauren as the oldest. Here was last year's party.

10/22/10: Halloween Happenings at the Library

We went to the Halloween Happenings party for the third time at the Billerica library again. This is always a fun event with lots of games, crafts and fun things to do on all three floors. Here are the kids having a good time.
Here they are with Evan's teacher from last year. She was reading stories to kids.
Lauren doing the obstace course.
And Evan playing games.
We will be there again next year!

7/9/10: Teddy Bear Picnic Fun

What a fun day we had. We took Fireman Sammy, Softy, and Princess Cindy to a Teddy Bear picnic at the Tewksbury Library. It was very hot for Teddy Bears, but the bears and kids had a great time. We went last year too and had a great time. We packed food for the Teddy Bears, got certificates for them for attending, made a craft, played games and bounced the bears up and down on a sheet.
Lauren bringing Princess Cindy to the picnic.
Evan preparing the food for Fireman Sammy and Softy and making sure not to give them any cookies or brownies before their lunch.
The bears are going to fly high.

2/20/10: Jack Frost, Animals, and Rides

We started our weekend fun off at the Billerica Library to start for Jack Frost's Winter Blast Party. As I previously posted "Love Your Local Library", the Library comes through again with a great free event. The kids had so much fun. They made hats, scarfs, wands, and snow globes. Then ate snacks of donuts and popsicles and put paper on their feet to pretend they were skating. Both kids went in by themselves and the volunteers were great with them. This was a free event and I am glad I signed up early as spots filled up quickly.
Lauren showing off how cute she is with her rosy cheeks because we all know your nose and cheeks get red when they are cold.
Then we headed over to the Shriner's Auditorium for the Commerford Petting Zoo/Amusement Rides. I must admit the kids had a lot of fun, however the value was not so great. It was $10 per adult and $7.95 for children just to enter. Luckily I had a coupon for 2 free kids passes. Then once you got in you had to pay for everything. 2 tickets for a ride (about $2) and 4 tickets for animal rides. They had elephants, camels, and ponies. There were also carnival type games also with a fee of $2-$4. Here are the kids on the train.
And feeding the animals.
More feeding.
And on another ride. From the second we got there Lauren was asking to go on the horsey ride.
And the "famous" one horned cow.

10/27/09: Halloween Storytime, Puppets and Parade at the Library

As I posted about loving your library, here we are again at a library event for Halloween. The kids had such a great time. There was storytelling, puppets and a parade in costume through the library. What fun! Here they are with Claire.
Here they are intently listening to the story.
And standing up to do some dancing.
And now during the parade through the libary.
And giving hugs to the bear dressed up as a ghost.

10/21/09: Love Your Local Library

It is amazing how much we go to the library. There is always something going on. We are fortunate in the fact that there are 8 libraries all within 20 minutes of us that we can go to. There are Storytimes, Truck Days, Crafts, Music Time, Movies, Puppet Shows, Animal Shows, Parties, discount passes to Museums and Zoos, the list goes on and on. To check out other events we have gone to at the library go here.
One day at work some people were talking about the library and how no one must go there due to computers. I laughed to myself and thought obviously you don't have kids, because once you have kids you will be at the library all the time.
Here are the kids after creating these cute bat hats and Frankenstein door hangers (Lauren called her's Paul). We went and did this last year too.
If you haven't already check out all your local libraries have going on and donate some money to them or join any Friends of the Library type groups they have. Why not give a little back?
