3/24/17: Jenny Craig Progress

Disclosure:  I was given a 50% discount on my food for review purposes.  No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
I have been on Jenny Craig since mid-November and I am so happy to report that I am now down 41 pounds!*  I am finally feeling more like myself.  This picture may not seem like a big deal but to me it was the first picture that I had posted to social media of myself in a long time.
This was a huge step for me as I was so unhappy with how I looked for so long I wouldn't post any pictures of me.  I was so excited to let my husband know yesterday that a shirt he bought me for Christmas now fit!  I recently also started buying some new clothes and realized I went down two sizes in shirts and three sizes in pants!*
When I went to my doctor she was so happy to see my progress.  This program is so easy for me to stay on.  Amazingly every week since November I have had a loss in my weight.  Some of my favorites foods are the cinnamon rolls, and Cheesy Chicken and Potatoes are really yummy.  There are even options for breakfast that are bars and easy to take on the go.
Check out all of their food here.
The Cookies and Cream cake is so good too!
I also have added workouts in to my weekly routine which is helping me in my journey.  I have been doing interval training on the treadmill and trying to increase my steps.  Right now they have a promotion going on to lose 17 pounds or get 12 weeks of Jenny Craig for $17!  Also if you refer friends you get $25 off food.  Feel free to mention my name Gilda A. if you join.  There are several Membership Options, here you can shop plans.  There is even a monthly option.  You can learn how it works here.
I will keep updating you on my journey to a new more confident Gilda.

2/20/17: Reclaiming Me With Jenny Craig

About a year ago I wasn't feeling myself.  I was tired and my weight seemed to be climbing and climbing even though I wasn't eating more.  I had a blood test and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease Hypothyroidism.  Finally I had an explanation for my weight gain but what was I going to do about it?  It took a while to get my medicine figured out but once my TSH was normal I decided it was time to go back to Jenny Craig.
I am happy to report after 3 months back on the program I am down 35 pounds!*  Each week I have been steadily going down.  Plus I have the support of my consultant in center who discusses my challenges and successes with me.  My Endocrinologist was so happy to see my progress.  I feel better, my clothes look better and I am gaining confidence day by day.
The program is really easy to follow with pre-packaged meals that are easy for me to heat up.  You select a breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack.  Some of my favorites are the blueberry pancakes.
The Cheesy Chicken and Potatoes is really yummy.
I love to try and match my meal to what I am feeding the family.  My kids love tacos so I can eat the same with my Chicken Street Tacos.
Who doesn't love being able to eat a cupcake?
Their Anytime Bars are great to have on the go, make you feel full and taste great!

12/3/15: Jenny Craig Progress

The struggle with weight is real.  I have lived with it ever since graduating college.  Life is rushed, meals are rushed and my weight suffers.  I have been back on Jenny Craig and wanted to give an update on my journey and what I am learning.  I have been back on this journey to find the old me for two months.  As of now I am down 20 pounds and feeling great!*
Recently I had a 15 year college reunion and the thought of going did not even cross my mind as I am not happy with the way I look.  I knew right then and there it was time to make a change and head to Jenny Craig.  Several people said, "but it is the holidays!"  I think the holidays are the perfect time to start.  As it says they are "holi" "days" not weeks, not months.  If I can't make it by for a few days here and there making better choices how can I for the rest of my life?  Why put off till tomorrow what you can do today?  With kids everything is about them and the focus is never on me but it really needs to be so that I can be more active with my kids.
I am no longer craving sugar and salt but instead craving salad and vegetables.  I am also trying not to build my life and rewards around food.  It used to be if someone did a great job on something we would go out for ice cream.  Ice cream is not needed as a reward.  What about going to the park instead.

What I love about Jenny Craig is the convenience.  I don't need to think about what I am making for myself.  Everything is pre-portioned out for me and allows me to learn the right portion control.  The food options on Jenny Craig are great and I just found out they will be adding 10 new foods in January!
Check out all of their food here.  One of my personal favorites is the Loaded Baked Potato.
Right now they have a promotion going on to lose 10 pounds in 8 weeks or get your monthly fees back!  Why not try it!  Also if you refer friends you get $25 off food.  Feel free to mention my name Gilda A. if you join.
There are several Membership Options that you can check out on their website.  There is even a monthly option.

6/17/25: Jenny Craig New Food

I have been on Jenny Craig and received a couple surprise packages from them recently.  They were nice enough to send me some of their new foods and some great tools to help in my weight loss journey.
We all know how important water is and they gave me a wonderful water bottle and container for salads and more.  The container with the fork is great for me to take fruit with me.  I can cut up some different fruit and put it in the container.
They also sent me a box of all of their new foods.  This is one of my favorite things about Jenny Craig.  You can never get sick of the food as they are always adding and changing options.  Plus I got to see how food is packaged when you do the mail order.  They pack the food very well and include dry ice in the container to keep the frozen food cold.
Here you can see as I unpack the cooler.
Here is a sampling of new foods.  The Chicken Pesto Pasta shown in the left hand corner is really good.  It is a wonderful combination of vegetables, pasta and chicken.  The breakfast chocolate muffin is awesome too.  It really tastes like a dessert more than a breakfast.  I also like the Vanilla Buttercream Cupcake as both of my kids had their birthdays recently and I got to eat that as my cake.  There is also Lemon Garlic Shrimp.

Recently it has been difficult to stay on track with the end of year activities for the kids but I am still trying to make time for myself and keep on track.  Jenny Craig makes there program easy to follow.
There are several Membership Options that you can check out on their website.  There is even a monthly option.

5/14/15: Down 20 Pounds on Jenny Craig

I wrote about my recent return to Jenny Craig and wanted to give an update on my journey and what I am learning.  So far I have been back for two months.   As of today I am down....wait for it...20 pounds!*
The sign in Center said it all today.  "I may not be there yet.  But I'm closer than I was yesterday!".  This is exactly how I feel.  I usually spend so much time focusing on how much weight I have left to lose instead of celebrating how much I have lost already.  I am celebrating my victories as I enter each 10 bracket of weight and watch the numbers go down.  I am learning that there are always special events and things going on but it doesn't have to derail my weight loss.  This included most recently Mother's Day.  Of course we ate out and I enjoyed Baked Haddock and it was so good.  I am no longer craving sugar and instead craving salad and vegetables.
I am also learning not to compare.  This includes comparing myself to myself at a younger age.  I still remember what I weighed at my wedding and it is okay that I won't return to that number.  I have realigned my expectations of myself.
I am learning I will make a mistake.  I will have a moment of weakness and eat or drink something I should not have, but that is okay too.  We are all human, but as long as I recognize the slip ups and continue to move forward that is all that counts.
There are several Membership Options that you can check out on their website.  There is even a monthly option.
I will let you follow me along on my journey to a new more confident Gilda.

4/2/15: Back to Working On Me With Jenny Craig

Focusing on myself is not a strong point.  Especially since having two kids I tend to forget about taking care of myself.  Recently I decided to make a change and start to feel better about myself.  The first step was to work on my weight.  My weight has fluctuated up and down since college.  It has been an ongoing battle.  Recently I also was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism which also makes it harder to lose weight and I had been struggling.  I am now on medicine for my thyroid and I decided it was time to head back to Jenny Craig.
I am back on track and have been back for three weeks now.  In my first three weeks I lost 9 pounds*!  Here is the scale I fear so much, but hopefully will start to become friends with.  I love seeing the number drop in to the next set of 10 and each pound lost motivates me even more.
With Jenny Craig you buy your food and meet weekly with a consultant.  The food is really great and you buy your breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack.  There are always new options which I love.
The new Turkey Bacon and Egg White Sandwich is so good.  I love it.  There are also pancakes, french toast, cereals, and cinnamon rolls that are really good.
The new Southwest Style Chicken Fajita Bowl is now my favorite lunch.
One of my favorite dinners is the Chicken Fettuccine but there are so many really tasty dinners.  The Three Cheese Ziti and Enchilada are also really good.
There are even desserts to keep your cravings at bay.  The Triple Chocolate Cheesecake and Red Velvet cupcakes are awesome.  There are sweet and salty options.
Another great thing is that you also include fruit servings and milk servings.  They have really good bars that are called Anytime Bars for a milk serving.  I like the Peanut Butter Chocolate Crunch Anytime Bars.
You can also volumize your meals with "free foods".  These are ways to add volume to your meal and not a lot of calories.  There are several Membership Options that you can check out on their website.  There is even a monthly option.
I will let you follow me along on my journey to a new more confident Gilda.

3/10/14: A New Me With Jenny Craig

I wanted to share my latest update on finding my previous body with Jenny Craig.  I am now happy to report I am down 29 pounds* in three months.  I finally took a picture with the kids at my recent Disney Side Party and didn't hate how I looked!
Even more exciting is that I went shopping for clothes recently and I had gone down two sizes!  For a while now despite the weight loss I have been wearing the same size clothes.  In these clothes that were way too big for me I still looked heavier than I was.  When I wore my new outfit this past weekend I got so many compliments from people saying that I looked great and had lost weight.  That was really encouraging and made me feel awesome!
I am incorporating some of my own food in to my menu and continuing to work out.  I can't wait to reach my goal, but even more than that I can't wait to look back in a year and still be at my goal.
I am still evolving but I know the old Gilda is fighting to get out.

1/26/14: Latest Progress on Jenny Craig

You may have read my previous posts about going back to Jenny Craig to be happy about myself again and set a good example for my kids.  I am now happy to report I am down 21 pounds* in two months.  But even better, I am down 14 inches!!!  They gave me this ribbon to show how many inches I have lost off my body.  I still have about 30 pounds to go, but this is a great start.
Some changes in my attitude about losing weight this time is that I am taking in one day at a time.  In the past I was always worried if I made a bad choice I would give up for a day.  Then a day would turn in to a week, then a week would turn in to two weeks, then a month, then more.  This is the exact problem that got me in to the situation I am in today.  I also changed my expectations of myself on exercising.  I know my body is not what it used to be and I need to be patient to build back up to where I was in the past.  I did add strength training this week but started with less weight than I have done in the past.  I felt good, didn't injure myself, and felt accomplished.
I am constantly evolving but the old Gilda is hiding inside and can't wait to be back.

1/10/13: Latest Progress on Jenny Craig Adding Exercise

You may have read my previous post about going back to Jenny Craig to gain back my old body.  I am so happy I started before Thanksgiving and am happy to report that I am now down 17.5 pounds!  I love this visual about habit because it is so true.
I am a creature of habit and needed to change my routine and create a new habit.  My motivation was my frustration at looking in the mirror and hiding behind my kids in pictures.  This week I added my workouts back in to my routine.  I really needed to focus on just the food at first but now it was time to add exercise.  Up until about 2 years ago I was teaching Step Aerobics, Strength Training, Cardio Circuit and Abs.  It was a part of my daily routine to go to the gym at work at lunch.  I got out of this habit and I knew I needed it back.
This week I am happy to report that I worked out 4 days!  Not up to what I used to do, but I will take it.  It is a start and I didn't injure myself.  I tend to go all out when I go back to it thinking I can do what I did before, but this time I realize I need to scale it back and try to do what I can do in my current body and fitness level.  I think this is a great realization for me.  In the past I have tried to do what I used to be able to do and I end up injuring myself and getting frustrated.
I know I can do it!  I just need to keep going and take it one day at a time.
I am still evolving and have a ways to go, but I know I can get back to the Gilda I used to be.

12/18/13: Progress on Jenny Craig

You may have read my previous post about going back to Jenny Craig to lose weight.  I really was at a point of frustration and needed to make a change.  Now it has been 3 weeks and I wanted to update you on my progress.
Drum roll please....
After week one I had lost 6 pounds, week two another 3 pounds, and week three 2 1/2 pounds for a total of 11 1/2!  I now think joining before Thanksgiving was a fabulous idea!  Even going to my husband's holiday party at work I just made better choices.  I ate veggies and fruit instead of fat laden passed hors d'oeuvres.  I filled my plate with salad, peeled skin off my chicken and had that with green beans.  Even holiday events couldn't sabotage me.  My number on the scale is getting less horrible, and best of all my clothes are too big!
To think I have already lost the weight of this bag that I picked up on the first week.  It is amazing how much 10 pounds is.
I have really just focused on the food right now.  In my next update I hope to add more activity in the mix and provide updates on that.  I also will try and match my food with what the family is eating.  For example if it is Pizza night I will eat my Rising Crust Pizza which is super yummy!
Lunch can even be a Beef and Cheese Slider which are yummy.
With the desserts I don't even feel like I am missing sweets.  Here is the Carrot Cake Cupcake which is awesome!
I know I can do it!  I just need to keep going and take it one day at a time.
I am still evolving but day by day and week by week I will get back to the Gilda I used to be.
Check out what programs they have on their website.  Don't wait till the New Year!
