9/24/14: Yankee Doodle Parade Fun

In our town we have a Yankee Doodle Weekend Celebration every year.  This year the theme was "Athletics In Our Community" and our elementary school was well represented.  I co-chaired the parade float build and our bee Buzzy joined us for the fun.

Our float featured some sports equipment, our Bee and the school theme of "Be the Best You Can Bee at the Ditson Elementary".

We had over 100 students, families, and staff march with our float dressed in athletic or Ditson clothing.

Evan was excited to hold the banner.

I also gave all the kids sports whistles and necklaces that they had fun blowing.

Our float ready to go.  We spent two night building it with a bunch of parent volunteers.  Plus the kids painted the signs.

What a great day for everyone.  The weather was perfect and we had a fun time!  As the PTO President I am happy to have one event in the books as complete.

9/15/13: Yankee Doodle Parade "Celebrating Our Schools"

We had a wonderful time again at the Yankee Doodle Parade representing the Ditson School.  The theme of the Parade was "Celebrating Our Schools".

It was nice that our Principal was one of the Grand Marshalls with all the other Principals.

 My husband, kids and I all helped with the float.  Here are the kids that helped out.

I think my kids like the preparation the most.

 Plus I love that they make the float their own by painting and adding glitter.

 When I asked Evan over the summer what he was most looking forward to for back to school, he answered being in the Yankee Doodle Parade.  He was very excited to carry the banner.

Our float was awesome again thanks to my friends Cindi and Elaine who did a wonderful job creating and organizing it.  I am Co-President of the Ditson School Association and I feel responsible that all of our events go off well.  I am lucky to have wonderful chair-people to run these events.

Plus a huge thanks to Crescio Trucking that allowed us to use their truck as our float.

5/27/13: Lauren Twirls In the Memorial Day Parade

Lauren twirls baton.  In fact I started her three years ago twirling.  Today she was in the Memorial Day Parade in North Chelmsford with her team the Suburban-ettes.  It is a small parade but she had fun participating in it.

 I think she looks so cute in this outfit.

 There were lots of cheers when we got to the center.

 It was a very pretty route.

 They had the High School band behind them which was perfect to march to.

9/15/12: Yankee Doodle Parade "Celebrating the Arts"

We had a wonderful time again at the Yankee Doodle Parade representing the Ditson School.  The theme of the Parade was "Celebrating the Arts".

It was a special year for the Ditson as our previous Principal who retired last year was the Grand Marshall and the new Superintendent marched with our float.

7/5/12: July 4th Festivities

I hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th holiday.  We did!  Here are the kids looking super cute in Boston on the 4th.

We started our festivities with the Wilmington Carnival as we always do.  Here are the kids having fun on the rides.

They love the cars, though they are getting a bit big for them.

Here they are with their winnings.  Yes Evan did win a real live goldfish.  It was a really hard game too, I couldn't win it, but he did.

Unfortunately fishy didn't make it to the next morning.  RIP Fishy.  You had a good little life.

We also went to the fireworks in Wilmington.

Then on July 4th during the day Lauren was in the Chelmsford parade baton twirling.
