6/21/17: Peanuts Night at the Boston Red Sox and July Events

The Boston Red Sox have some exciting theme nights coming up that I wanted to share with you.  

I have always loved Peanuts!  Especially Charlie Brown.  You just want to root for him.  I am so excited to share that the Boston Red Sox are having a special theme night to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Charlie Brown on June 29th.

Game of Thrones Night:

On Tuesday, July 18th to help the Red Sox Defend The Wall against the Toronto Blue Jays they will celebrate the Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning series, Game of Thrones®.  Fans who purchase the special ticket package will receive a Ser Andrew Benintendi bobblehead and have a private session to sit on the Iron Throne for a photo opportunity from 5 p.m. to 5:40 p.m.  The Iron Throne photo opportunity will then be available to all fans through the game following the private session reserved for purchasers of this special ticket package. Movie Night at Fenway Park:

A League of Their Own, the popular Penny Marshall-directed 90’s movie about two sisters who join the first female professional baseball league during World War II, will be featured on the Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision^® videoboard in center field at Fenway Park on Wednesday, July 26.  To ensure the best viewing on the 40 by 100-foot Diamond Vision® videoboard, fans in attendance will be seated in the lower seating bowl and down the first base line.  Fenway Park gates will open at 6:45 p.m. and the movie will begin at 8 p.m.  Attendees will be invited to walk the warning track from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., weather permitting.  Concessions will be available.  Former All American Girls Professional Baseball players Maybelle Blair (All the Way Mae), Shirley Burkovich (Hustle), and actress Tracy Reiner, who played Betty Spaghetti in the film, will greet fans as they make their way around the warning track before the movie.

A League of Their Own is celebrating the 25^th anniversary of its 1992 release. The PG-rated film stars Gena Davis (Dottie Hinson), Lori Petty (Kit Keller), Madonna (All the Way Mae), Rosie O’Donnell (Doris Murphy), and Tom Hanks (manager Jimmy Dugan).  Tickets for “Movie Night at Fenway Park,” presented by Mitsubishi Electric, are available now at redsox.com/movienight or by calling (877) REDSOX-9. General admission tickets for the public are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. The event is free for Red Sox Season Ticket Holders.

4/19/17: Fun For Families At Fenway Park

The Red Sox have been doing an amazing job making the Fenway Park experience more family friendly.  Each year I see huge improvements to make it easier for families to enjoy a game.  Starting with Wally's Clubhouse to Gate K for kids!  This year as a Red Sox Parent I was able to go to Fenway and learn more about the improvements this year and I also attended the Little League Opening Day event and had a blast!  Plus read on and see how you can score a free Red Sox game ticket for your child!

A Virtual Reality Batting Cage was added to the Kids Concourse.  Evan got to try it out and loved it.

Last year the Virtual Reality Dugout was added and this year there is new content.

I was also impressed with the new selection of foods.  Aramark, Fenway Park’s concessionaire has a great lineup this year of food.  As someone on a diet I was excited to see a new build-your-own-salad and fruit bar in the lower level featuring select produce from Fenway Farms, and new kids meals will be served in the Kids Concourse area in Wally and Tessie commemorative brown lunch bags.  The kids meals offer a choice of a mini kids hot dog, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or a grilled cheese, and are served with Lay’s chips and a mini Poland Spring water.

I sampled the salad and Evan had the hot dog kids meal.  A big hit is also the Wally ice cream.

Plus Aramark will continue its test kitchen concept by introducing monthly rotating items at a stand in the Big Concourse located across from the Champions Club.  Featured items for the month of April include lobster melts with steamed lobster, melted Muenster cheese, and sliced tomatoes; or surf and turf kebabs with skewered shrimp and/or marinated steak tips.  Plus lots of fun options for snacks including cotton candy and Cheetos popcorn!

There are also so many cool events for kids.  Today was Little League Opening Day at the park and we got to enjoy so much fun in the Kids Concourse and on the field.  This is a wonderful free event!

We got to walk around Fenway and also check out the field up close.

 The kids loved being able to walk around on the warning track.

There has also been a Dugout Expansion.  The depth of both the Home and Visitor’s dugouts has been increased by moving the front rail of the dugouts forward 3 feet, providing for better circulation, improved sight lines from bench seating areas, and additional space for storage of bats and helmets.  We got to check out both the home and visitor's dugouts today when we were at Little League Opening Day at the park!

We even got to check out the Red Sox Trophies.

Lauren had a caricature done.  There were also balloon animals being made, a magician, clown, and face painting.

Kids could also throw and bat.

7/28/13: Futures at Fenway and Kidz Bop

This past weekend we went to Futures at Fenway to see the Portland Sea Dogs play the Harrisburg Senators.  The Portland Sea Dogs won!  Plus we got to see a Kidz Bop concert.

Ticket prices are affordable which makes it a great way to take your kids to Fenway Park and enjoy the experience.  Here we are right behind home plate. 

 Plus they always have games going on in between innings.  Here is Wally helping out organizing a game of musical chairs with some children.

  Some concessions are also discounted.  Hot Dogs were discounted to $2.50 from $5 and drinks only $2.50.  Be aware though that adult drinks are not discounted so you will still pay over $8 for a beer.  

 You could also sign the kids up for Red Sox Nation.  A one year membership includes what is shown below plus access to watch Batting Practice from the Green Monster, access to purchase 2 discounted Outfield Grandstand tickets, 10% off at the Team Store, in game giveaways, opportunity to attend special events at Fenway, a Kid Nation Passport, and 3 issues of the Kids Club Newsletter.

It was a beautiful day to be at Fenway Park.

Even dogs were invited to come to the park.  We saw some and they were super cute and enjoying the game.

Also they had games for kids to play and a bouncy house.  Plus some people making balloon animals and mini-golf for the kids.

Fourty five minutes following the game was a Kidz Bop concert.  I love Kidz Bop as it takes pop songs that are on the radio and adjusts the lyrics and kids sing them.  They have been named “#1 Kids’ Artists of the Year” for the third consecutive year by Billboard.  They did the show right near the Red Sox dugout and after the game they gave people the chance to move their seats to be near the show.

They sang popular songs like Firework, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and other hits that kids and adults love.

Pop Some Tags was my personal favorite complete with cool jackets.  They were really great.

Families across New England will have the chance to see Major League Baseball stars of tomorrow when the 8^th annual “Futures at Fenway presented by Xfinity” returns to Fenway Park on Saturday, July 27. Family-friendly ticket and concession prices along with kid-friendly activities and entertainment highlight the day of minor league fun. 

This year's event invites fans to bring their dogs to the ballpark and features a post-game performance by the popular kids group “The KIDZ BOP Kids.”  We saw them last year at the Life is Good Festival and they are great.

After a one year absence from the event, Boston’s Double-A affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs, will make their fourth appearance at Futures at Fenway, taking on the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Fenway Park gates will open at 11 a.m. for the noon game.

After the game, The KIDZ BOP Kids, a group of five kids from across the country that dance and sing today’s biggest hits, will perform. KIDZ BOP is the number one music brand for children ages 5-12 in the U.S. and have been named “#1 Kids’ Artists of the Year” for the third consecutive year by Billboard.

For the first time at Fenway Park, fans will have a chance to bring their dogs to the ballpark. Designated sections of the seating bowl will be available to owners and their pets where rest areas, water bowls, and activities will be provided. There will also be a photo station for dogs and their owners and the opportunity to participate in a pre-game dog parade around the warning track.

Concessions are also discounted.  Hot Dogs were discounted to $2.50 from $5 and drinks only $2.50.  Be aware though that adult drinks are not discounted so you will still pay over $8 for a beer.  You could also sign the kids up for Red Sox Nation.
